River Warden
Do you like being out and about along the River Medway. Would you like to make a difference and learn more about the wildlife and habitat management in the area?
The Medway Valley Countryside Partnership currently has over 30 volunteers who regularly patrol sections of the riverside footpaths, helping to keep the area tidy, recording wildlife and reporting any problems. As well as our ongoing scheme, which runs from Tonbridge to Maidstone, in 2009 the River Warden project was extended via the Valley of Visions to include the Medway Towns.
The Valley of Visions Landscape Partnership Scheme is a three year Heritage Lottery Funded project in the Medway Gap and works on a variety of community projects and with landowners and groups to conserve the wildlife and rich heritage of the area and encourage communities to learn about, enjoy and celebrate their local area.
Medway Valley Countryside Partnership deliver this Valley of Visions funded project in the Medway Gap and we currently need more River Wardens in the areas of Cuxton, Holborough, Aylesford, Burham and Wouldham. If you live in and around these areas, or often wander along the Medway and want to get involved, or if you run a community group and would like to be involved as a team, then please contact Andrea at MVCP via email (andrea.griffiths@kent.gov.uk) or by calling 01622 683695 for a chat.
